It’s already been a big year for email. Did you know that over 50,000 mailings (not including versions) have been exported since January in Taxi?

Creating more email is great, but producing email at scale which is accessible to everyone can be a challenge. At Taxi we recognise this, and so we engage with listen to our customers on calls with our Product and Customer Success team (even our CTO Will gets involved) 💗

We gain feedback from the many customer calls we join, emails we read, and comments we see through our social and #emailgeek Slack channels to ensure there’s a customer story behind each update we ship.

Here’s a roundup of what we have recently launched.

March 2021:

Conversations:

We launched Conversations to make it easier than ever for you and your team to collaborate and work on emails at the same time in Taxi.

Using Conversations your team can collaborate in the editor as they create their email. Leave comments in different parts of your email, and tag colleagues to involve them and get their feedback - without leaving Taxi!

What can you do with Conversations?

  • 👩‍💻 Work on your email and view comments in one place
  • 💪 Multiple people can work in the same email at once
  • 🏷 Tag team members to speed up approval times

Adjustable screen widths and previews:

Make it easier than ever to view your emails in Taxi on different devices and break points.

When building your email, you can now select what preview you would like to view from a set of different devices in the top left of the preview screen: Desktops, Tablets and Mobiles. This is really handy for getting a good, and live, idea of what your emails will look like on other devices upon sending them - and without needing to import your HTML into another tool.

Another handy thing we introduced is adjustable screen widths where you can adjust the size of the preview by dragging the sides of the email preview. You can set custom viewports in your account which enables you to set a max-width for when you would like your email to display for another device type e.g. from desktop to mobile. As you slide between widths, the device icons will change to reflect the device you are viewing it on.

April 2021:

Conversations iteration 2:

We spoke to our customers and got some amazing feedback on how we could make Conversations even better for you! So we decided to make some improvements to give you even more options.

We made some small but noticeable changes in the notifications page to give you a clearer view of which Conversation you have been tagged in - so you can navigate through and reply where needed.

We’ve introduced some new updates too, so you can:

  •  🚩 Resolve, flag and delete Conversations. Flagged Conversations will show a little red warning and you will get an error on the export page if they haven’t been resolved.
  •  🏷️ Tag your entire team in a Conversation.
  •  🔗 Links added are now clickable which means you can paste them directly into your emails.
  •  🔔 Choose how often you want to be notified by email, and how often e.g. hourly, daily etc.
  •  💌 Be notified in the editor when you are tagged in a Conversation, plus we notify you at the top of your tab.

Drag and drop images into the editor:

You can now drag and drop an image directly from a browser into the Taxi image uploader box! No need to save it to your desktop, or type in the URL, just drag the image from a separate tab into the image uploader box and you're good to go!

May 2021:

Setting defaults in dropdowns:

We know how easy it is to export an email and forget to set design or formatting if you use a dropdown. Often you will have a default setup (e.g. for a background colour) but this needs changing on a campaign basis, and can easily be forgotten if you use dropdowns. We have created a solution for this 👩‍💻

You can now apply the must-change expectation to dropdown and multi-value dropdown fields. This means that, to export an email, these fields must be changed from their default. This is especially useful when you want to ensure that a change is made to a dropdown field.

Set your own default Email Design System:

If you use more than one EDS but have a common one you use for the majority of your Projects, you can now set this as a default in Taxi. Choosing a default means your Email Design System is automatically selected when creating a new project - which saves you from scrolling to the one you need/accidentally leaving it blank. You can still choose if you'd like to use a different one on the Project page from a dropdown menu but it just means your default is always first!
